Kay Makaiwa

U16 National Team Coach

“Coach “Mak” brings an extraordinary amount of volleyball experience and knowledge to Washington Elite.  Not only does she contribute extreme knowledge of the sport, but she brings a tremendous amount of coaching/playing experience as well.  But what makes Coach especially irreplaceable is the fact that she is a “Players Coach”.  She is truly a direct representation of what coaches should be.  Spectators can see her positivity and work ethic exude onto the court and into her athletes.  Coach Mak has a broad range of experience from coaching in college and high level club to coaching 2A High School Volleyball, basketball and softball.  Her coaching successes (with Head Coach, Tim French) can be found at the state tournament almost every year during November.  Finding a coach to fit our program like she does was like finding a needle in a haystack.”
